We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer.

It is the top cancer in women worldwide, and is increasing particularly in developing countries where the majority of cases are unfortunately diagnosed in the advanced stages when it’s too late.

About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will get it, however too many of us never stop and think that this reality could happen to us unless the statistic runs in our families.

Living a healthy and balanced lifestyle can help prevent the unlocking of certain DNA mutations, however it does not make us immune to them.

The above quote appeared on my Headspace app after I finished session one of their “Productivity” pack.

This quote resonated with me because I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with my to-do list lately, and have side-stepped some bigger, more important goals that I know need to make more time for. (Oh the fallout of giving into short-term versus long-term gratification!)

This advice is obvious and something we all know deep down, but hey, we’re only human and can all be a little impulsive when alluring distractions flash their shiny hands our way!

So, I’ll be writing this simple quote down (*Post-it queen right here*) and putting it on my desk as a reminder that in order to get the results I desire, I need to say “NO” to fleeting, fun things and put in some honest, gritty and realistic effort into my bigger picture goals!

Fall may have started last week, but that doesn’t mean our summer glows need to fade away anytime soon!

While we know it’s important to prioritize getting our daily dose of D, I always wear a hat to protect my face and NEVER purposefully tan outside. (I’m half British a.k.a. any tan is at tops mildly golden and only lasts 3 days – not worth it for skin cancer, wrinkles, sun spots etc.)
